Break ups at any age hurt, but you can over come them

I admit it! From a personal level, I’m glad to see 2019 in the rearview mirror. It was definitely a tough year for me. Starting over at 58 years after being in a relationship for over 2 plus years was devastating. I felt like my heart was ripped out and stomped on. Perhaps you’ve been there too.

I started reading a book that my dear friend Catherine Hickland wrote a few years ago. Catherine had given it to me while I was taking a course from her back in 2014. Honestly, I really didn’t think I would ever read it. Boy was I wrong! I dusted off the cover and dove in! Not only did I read it, but I took to heart the action steps suggested in the book and applied them to my daily life.

Within 30 days I knew that even at my age I could still overcome obstacles that were thrown my way. I learned more about myself and also learned that if you need someone to talk to, put your ego away, please seek professional assistance and guidance.

Everyday gets better, it just takes time. I have heard those words so many times that I just wanted to puke! But you know what, it’s the truth. By working on yourself (I’m still a work in progress) you not only help yourself, but you help those around you. 2019 saw many changes in me, some that probably needed to happen years ago, but this old Marine was too stubborn to see the trees because of the forest.
